Both residential and commercial customers experienced extensive damage with 145 residential service locations and 31 business service locations being affected. In the coming weeks, crews worked tirelessly to restore all essential services to customers.
- Electric: By October 8, power had been restored to 99% of customers who were able to reconnect. The electric crew was joined by 29 additional lineman from other utilities to assist in restoration efforts.
- Water: On September 29, a boil water advisory was issued. By September 30, water had been restored to all customers outside the flood affected areas. On October 2, the temporary water line across Jackson Love Bridge was installed. On October 6, the boil water advisory was lifted for all customers. By October 8, water had been restored to all customers that were able to connect. Water treatment operations were not affected by the disaster.
- Wastewater: The Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) was completely covered in silt and water. By September 28 disinfection had been reestablished. The first three weeks after the flood were spent digging out the plant. By the third week of October, partial wastewater treatment was back in operation. By the third week of November, wastewater treatment had been restored with temporary modifications. The full permanent restoration of wastewater treatment will continue for many months and/or years. On November 22, the emergency water and sewer bypass lines and pump station became online which reconnected the South end of the county back to the WWTP.
